Last day of the bus tour to Isle of Skye, we stopped at a few scenic places and Inverlochy Castle remains. This seems to have been a massive castle and they are doing some restoration work to it. Here are some pics of the day:
When I returned to Edinburgh, I went for a drink with another fellow I met on Tinder, who had lived in Scotland for 7 yrs but grew up in California. Again, it was interesting to hear about life in Scotland and the differences from home. Was great conversation and an interesting perspective on finances, relationships, politics, world news and more! Thanks Neal! Hope I’m fortunate enough to cross paths with you again!

Off to London! Was an interesting challenge to find my way through the underground rail system (Tube) and then to my hostel. Hostel was a tad sketchy and definitely not the nicest one I’ve stayed at. They had us stacked 3 bunks high and checking in so late I was at the very top in a 12 person room! What an adventure!

I gotta say its kind of tough to write about London, I can’t really say I was all that marvelled. Yah it was neat to see things I’d only seen on TV, but I can’t say I was wowed by any part of it. Through my days in London, I did a hop on hop off Bus tour and saw most of the sights. The national museum was pretty neat, seeing famous paintings I’d only seen in books, and I did indulge in a show at the Savoy called Gypsy. It was probably the highlight of my London stay. Buckingham palace was booked 2 weeks in advance to go on a tour of the inside, and the outside was so extravagant that it kind of turned me off the whole thing, so much luxury for a few people when there is so much suffering in the world. I’m all for success and enjoying life, and I’m sure they give back but it was still a bit over the top. Just my 2 cents. My flight to Strasbourg, France was not until 6:40PM but the Tube (underground train) was on strike and schedules were showing it would take me 2.5 hrs to get to the airport by bus, add to that, that many more people would be using the bus then normal, I decided not to take any chances and left the hostel at 11AM arrived to airport at 3Pm. The executive lounge was only $25 and included lunch, drinks and wifi, so thinking I’d spend that in airport anyway, I treated myself to this little luxary!
